Today I watched "You've Got Mail." I'm sure you know it. It's a story about two people who are living lives with someone that they just somehow ended up with, but really don't match at all. They love their jobs and find solace in a friend, whom they have not met, but are able to be vaguely, yet completely honest with each day. They unknowingly cross paths in real life are are mortal enemies in the business world, yet the man finds out that she is actually the woman he has confided in online. She is his mystery friend who he trusts, yet doesn't know.
I guess the thing that really sparked my thoughts today, while watching this movie, was the fact that you can get so lost in what your "special someone" is going to look like or speak like, or maybe even where he will be from... but in the end, all that really matters is that he is the one who fills your heart with joy. It might sound cliche', but I think everyone watches movies like this and hopes to find that one person with whom they really can connect. The one someone who really "gets" them. That's what I hope for, at least.
Don't get me wrong... it's not that all the other things don't matter-- of course they do. But when you look at someone who's in love... not, "Oh, he's rich and my mother loves him, and that's what every girl wants, right?" But the "I just saw him 20 mins ago, and my heart is already aching to be near him again." The "I can be just fine on my own, but I really don't enjoy something unless I'm able to share it with him" kinda love... That love, just shines out of the eyes. You can't help but smile when you see someone who's in love like that.
There really is only one man who has my heart... We will never be together. But he certainly has it. No matter where we are in life, no matter how long it's been since we've last spoken, whenever we do get back in touch, it's like we never left off...
He is the only man who has always been home to me.
I know someday I'll meet someone and will fall in love and live happily ever after. But I must say, I will only know that I've truly found love because someone has shown me what it feels like. <3
